Quelle Surprise

The longer I am here, the more trouble I seem to be having coming up with a topic each week. I seem to shockingly have less I have to say.

I guess that's because less and less surprises me.

Not the massive potholes that swallow bus tires.

Not the piles of garbage that sit in the street for hours on Mondays.

I'm not even surprised it started to snow again today, after 2 weeks of wearing my runners outside, because after all the dire anecdotes I was fed before we started this adventure, I expected it to snow until April!

I guess I AM a little surprised that despite being "homeless" for over 4 months I'm not feeling all that disconnected.

True I have Lynda with me, and really wherever she is, I feel I belong.

But I have always been a total homebody. I like to be be able to define clearly where I'm from. Today when I met someone at the gym and they asked me where I lived, it was a rather longwinded answer!

Maybe it also helps that I have actually been LIVING here. Trying new things. Like helping to teach English. My grade 8 teacher would be laughing her ass off at that given I still don't really get W.T.F an adverb is!

And taking art classes. I can happily say my portraits no longer look like someone has been hit in the face with a shovel! #thatsprogress

I think if I had succumbed to what I feared might happen when I started this blog (ie: I sit on the couch all winter, glued to Netflix, bemoaning the diabolical weather in this very blog and gaining 15 lbs), I might feel a little more "unhinged".

It also helps that I have spent the better part of the last week starting to finalize the plans for our bathroom remodel in Victoria. I can now almost SEE us there. Tiles, light fixtures, vanities and 6 ft soaker tubs.

Who doesn't love a 6ft soaker tub?!

That's pretty darn exciting.

Also exciting is the fact that despite the current 15 cm of snow we are expecting in the next 24 hrs, there are only 2 weeks left until Spring hits.

Which means that time has come when the visitors descend.

The first one arrives TODAY!

I better go wash the sheets.

Spare room ready for the BFF!
