Attache ta tuque! | Get ready!
I had promised a blog every Monday. I thought I might fail you all this week, until I found this expression on one of the numerous fun Quebecois french sites I was wasting time on when I should have been finishing my work emails.
That's exactly how I feel!
ATTACHE TA TUQUE ! Grab that toque and ram it on your head, we are at T minus 9 days to liftoff!
(It's lucky I never really got into the Canucks, now I can cheer for les Canadiens with no fear of being accused of defecting!)

Today I had my last shift with my Rooftop volunteers at the YWCA in Vancouver, hauling in kiwis to the sum of 181 pounds!

Then I pretty much literally handed over the keys to my replacement for the next year, and wandered into the sunset. Well okay, I got a Car2Go and drove my raspberry transplants home, but you get my drift! I have to say the thought of driving those little cars in the traffic and snow of Montreal makes me pretty darn terrified, but I'm sure that will be a topic for a future blog!
So now all I have to do (with the help of Lynda of course.. I'm not alone in all this!) is get our stuff to Victoria this Wednesday, hang out with some Victorians, then some Cowichan Bayians (?!) and lastly some Vancouverites, (who have all threatened to come visit us!), hand more keys over, and get on a plane!!
Easy Peasy!
I might need to practice a few of these expressions: I can mutter them under my breath as I navigate the next 9 days. I think my favourite so far is "Crisse de câlisse de sacrament de tabarnak d’osti de ciboire!" Which is basically a string of ecclesiastical proclamations that when said with enough forceful conviction mean... well you are all smart people, you can probably guess what they mean!
I don't think I will find them on my DuoLingo App though, which is kind of too bad. I could use the help with the pronunciation!
This time next week I will hopefully be typing from a good friend's house in North Van. Furniture safe in Victoria, tenants installed on Commercial Drive, and a beer in hand. Of course I MIGHT be running around like a maniac trying to finish the painting, returning stuff to work, and making full use of my new favourite expression...
Either way, Attache ta tuque !!
I'm ready!
